  2. Actually, traction control is essential in snow when your vehicle comes with an open differential, as most do. It transfers torque from the wheel that has no traction to the opposing wheel, allowing it to power the vehicle out. Electronic stability control does absolutely NOTHING for you in the snow. It simply changes vehicle dynamics at higher speeds to avoid oversteer and rollovers.
