Aaron Self Dream on. The ONLY reason for the good resale values is the limited availability. The cars are durable, but not good at much and absolutely won’t be brought back. They’re extremely quirky and anything that is, has a following, including the AMC Gremlin along which I’d place the FJ Cruiser. What Toyota should do is partner with Suzuki and bring a re-badged Jimny to North America. That would be profitable for both manufacturers and cover a niche market that is now unserved. Toyota just bought a 4.9% stake in Suzuki as Suzuki bought a 0.2% stake of Toyota in return.

Which is what people did. Which of them is still sold?

Aaron Self What do you know about the UAE? Have even been there? The UAE is the poster child for play toys. They sell the most Lamborghinis there too. Even their police drives Lambos. They are surrounded by the desert, a perfect place for an FJ play toy. The UAE is not the real world. Also, Toyota has only said that talks inside were going on about whether to bring any type of FJ back. Nothing indicates they decided they want to. Plus, have you actually seen the UAE FJ sales numbers before commenting? All of the UAE population (not just Dubai) is about the same as NYC alone. Keep that in mind. If they sold 10k units a year, that’s A LOT for such a small nation.

The seating position and the difficulty of accessing the rear seats on this car contributed to its low sales. It’s huge, cumbersome and uncomfortable.
