@sosavwitdabag2530 That’s correct. Employers actually carry insurance for workers compensation liability. If he has medical repercussions from the event he has that right. However, worker’s comp doesn’t pay your entire salary and it’s the insurance that pays it, not the employer directly. How much and how long depends on the state, but in MS it can be up to 450 weeks, depending on the injury, and up to 2/3 pay.

The DISPATCHERS may have had a reason to not take him seriously. We don’t know what he said over the phone at that point. Thankfully, the 911 system records all calls.

@janiet It depends on what was actually said. You can’t judge situations that you weren’t privy to. That’s dishonest. If his job is of a driver and he comes in and says, “I won’t drive”, what is a company to do? Make him the CEO? The HR manager? What? Their regulations say that if there is an incident, they must investigate on their end if the employee contributed to it. If it’s found the employee did not, they get their pay back. In the meantime, the employee says they cannot work doing their job, so what should be done? Keep in mind that this employee may have a very low level of education and skill. Also keep in mind that none of this was FedEx’s fault. They’re technically not required to keep employing him if he doesn’t want to do his job anymore because of his trauma. He can file for disability. Is it bad PR? Perhaps, but PR has NOTHING to do with facts or the truth. It’s solely feels.

@TimothyHuffGuitar Driving a rental truck makes people look suspicious? How? What? All delivery companies and even the USPS rent delivery trucks when they need to. Also, when is “suspicious” a cause to shoot at anyone? You’re not “just sayin..” you’re just yapping.

@ericfitzpatrick5319 First off, no one ran into a station. The guy called. Also, he had little to no information to go on. It’s not that they didn’t take him seriously, but rather that he didn’t stay on scene, didn’t go to a police station and had no good info to provide over the phone. The police had nothing to go on. It wasn’t until the van renter - FedEx went in with photos of the damage to the van that they had more to go on. Then they could canvass the area and get video from third parties, which you need subpoenas for often. They could then get access to the van from FedEx to get ballistics involved, etc. 911 likely dispatched a unit to where he said it happened, which found nothing there, and that was that. A 911 call isn’t a police report. It’s just a call for help. The report comes later, when the police contact you back, IF you left contact information. That contact was made the following day when they walked into the station.
