@swagedelic Zelensky didn’t say it. His foreign minister hinted that if Ukraine cannot join NATO then it might need to re-gain its nuclear arsenal again, for protection. And he’s not wrong. Nothing else will keep Russia out.

@swagedelic It’s not a huge difference. The President is responsible for statements of his staff, especially on geopolitics. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with that statement. Russia insists that Ukraine not join NATO, so it’s creating a situation where Ukraine would need to militarize heavier to protect itself.

@swagedelic Not sure where you’re going with all the China comments, but Russia has never needed the West to build or rebuild. They have more than sufficient resources to do it. That’s not something anyone on this thread is talking about. The topic is whether Ukraine has claimed intent to develop nuclear weapons. The fact is that they did. The omission from Putin was that it was in a defensive context and only if it doesn’t get to join NATO.

@swagedelic There is still little to no barrier on trade for Russia, with the West or otherwise. Russia continues to import technology from where it’s primarily made: Israel, China, India, and South Korea. You’re very mislead if you think tech in Russia comes primarily from Europe or North America. It simply doesn’t. Russia also has a ton if domestic developments. Look, I’m no proponent of Russia, having fled from it in 1989, but I’m much more aware (quite apparently) of its realities than you are. There’s a reason the Ruble bounced back despite sanctions, and why Russians aren’t feeling their pinch. Russia is much more independent, financially, than the Western propaganda claims it to be. Yes, there’s active propaganda on both sides. Shocking, I know. Also, I never defended the invasion. All of my ancestors on my maternal side are Ukrainian and I used to go there in my childhood quite a lot. You’re clearly unhinged and ignorant. You’re also now muted and reported.

@eh1702 First off, the Kremlin never recognized Ukraine’s sovereignty during the days of the Soviet Union. Ukraine lost its independence in 1919, after it lost its war against Russia, a war where two Ukraines existed briefly, with Kyiv and Kharkiv as the two capitals. You need to learn history before yapping online and proving your stupidity to the public.
