  1. @Флаф Блаф That’s not logical. The reality is that the Russian army was organized into two Corps, East and West. The East Corps was based in Russia, just East of Luhansk/Dnipro and included the Crimea forces. They use the “V” symbol that stands for Vostok/East. The Western Corp was based in Belarus, along Ukraine’s Northern border and moved South toward Kiev/Chernigov. Their symbol is “Z” for Zapad/West. That said, what the Russian government is doing is EXACTLY what Hitler did in 1938, and is Russian Nationalism (unification of countries that have ethnic Russians living there, by force). It’s what Hitler did to Czechoslovakia (Sudetenland), France (Alsace/Lorraine) and Poland (Danzig).

  2. @Флаф Блаф The Russian people are no more Nazis than the Ukrainians, that is to say both countries have significant Nationalist movements, with extremist views, but in general, no one is saying all Russians are Nazis. No. Putin is a fascist. The leadership of Russia are fascist. The people aren’t. To be fair, most Germans weren’t Nazis either. Much like the Third Reich, the Russian Federation also attacks gays, Jews, Muslims, and other groups in Russia. Russia is intent on re-unifying Slavic/Russo countries of Belarus and Ukraine and keeping Serbia close. Those are all actions exactly in line with the fascist Germany, Italy and Spain of the late 1930’s, if you know history.

  4.  @mborok  They’re using the LATIN alphabet because to be honest, they think it looks cool, but also so that Westerners and Ukranians don’t quite get what it means, at least not right away. And it worked.

While in the ancient city of Rome the official language was Latin, the Holy Roman Empire had many official languages like Greek, Etruscan, Oscan, Aramaic, Syrian, etc., with both, Greek and Latin being the major languages. That’s why the term “Roman language” is ambiguous. There were many Roman languages, but only one Latin.
