  1. No, it was not sending cruise missiles to hit targets in Ukraine. These people have NO idea what they’re talking about. Russian cruisers don’t carry any cruise missiles and their only surface-to-surface missiles are anti-ship. The cruisers’ mission is to engage in maritime combat and provide protection to combat strike groups. They aren’t used against land targets. The destruction of the Moskva severely hampers the protection package of their amphibious landing group, and if it was the Neptune missiles that took it out, signals that those amphibious dock landing ships will be very vulnerable to them. There are two more cruisers of this class currently in the Aegean Sea, just outside the Bosphorus, which Turkey is currently making off-limits to warships of all nations. If Turkey was to change its mind, that will allow them to enter the Black and Azov seas, nullifying the loss. Even worse, Russia may choose to move the Pyotr Velikiy from the Northern Fleet down to the Black Sea, and that ship is far more capable.
