@dobsr1184 There have been assaults, both misdemeanor and felony, as well as serious threats. Those are legitimate crimes. You not caring about crimes doesn’t make them non-existent. In fact, during yesterday’s proceedings, a few examples were presented.

I did watch it. The whole day yesterday. I’m also a not a Dem or Rep, having been a GOP member for about 20 years in the past. This CNN piece is sadly on point. It was truly embarrassing to see the Republicans waste everyone’s time and tax money on “hearings” where all they did was talk about things that have NO relation to the DOJ. They didn’t even ask any questions that related to any reasonable DOJ area. They basically demanded that Garland prove that the sky is blue, and then ranted about their local election topics.

@AlexW-wv4nt They weren’t asking about the memorandum, not in honesty. They were pressuring for the memorandum to be revoked, while knowing fully well there can be no legitimate reason to do so. They were, WILLFULLY, lying to the session and to the citizens viewing. I guess you’re cool being lied to, in order to mislead you, but I’m not. You can have your opinion, but you cannot misrepresent facts.

I agree. The whole time I was waiting for Garland to stand up and say, “if there are no questions actually related to the DOJ, I suggest you stop wasting the taxpayers’ money and let me get back to work.”

@dobsr1184 We factually do, actually. Federal agencies very often assist local law enforcement in all kinds of functions, whether it be administrative, fiscal, investigative, forensic, or technological. You just have no idea. Also, harassment via mail and electronic means is always a federal matter because by its very nature it knows no state boundaries and uses federal government resources. The point is that if you’re not attacking or threatening people then no one, not local, not state or federal law enforcement will be sent, and if you are then it doesn’t matter which level cops cuff you. I remember the good old days when Republicans appreciated law enforcement and valued Judeo-Christian values like respect and peace. Now they’re just as bad as the Taliban. What happened? You’re an inch from destroying democracy and making women wear hijabs. Why are you all religious extremists nowadays and think the world will allow it? I didn’t fight in Afghanistan for you to make one here.

@dobsr1184 That’s not insane and that’s not what was offered anyway. Stop making shit up. The memo said that federal agencies will offer assistance. It’s also not about angry parents. It’s about those who are making violent threats. It’s been very clearly stated. Also, local sheriffs have shown that they are political figures, not LE officers, and are all too happy to not enforce state laws. Despite that, the feds only come when they are asked for help or when federal laws are broken. Go troll elsewhere!
