  1. Why? These kettles use a tremendous amount of electricity, which isn’t cheap, and most Americans do have gas stoves, which are far cheaper to boil water. The other reason is that Americans drink little tea and don’t consume much instant coffee. Other parts of the world drink more tea and lots of instant coffee.
