People refuse to understand that. The money that gets deduced out of your wage is what contributes to keeping the system alive. The vast majority of people end up spending much more than they ever receive back; Now whether you think this is a good thing or not doesn't change the fact that it is how Universal healthcare works.

@smuntdogmillionaire Yeah that's what I meant: your fellow co-citizens paid for your surgeries, along with whatever amount you payed into the system. That's not free healthcare, that's a communal fund raise

The issue with Universal Healthcare is always going to be that people take advantage of it and game the system. France is a prime example of that

@Onikage55 Dude, I would LOVE that, are you kidding me? Last time I was sick was 10 years ago. If I could go health insurance free I would, and if something happens to me and I need care I'll pay out of pocket full, I'm 100% fine with that. Unfortunately that's illegal so instead I have to spend cash I could put in retirement funds for an insurance that I not only never use but is also completely useless when I decide to use it, yay!

@Onikage55 lmao salty much? Maybe if you trained more often you wouldn't get sick every 2 weeks and people like me wouldn't have to pay into the system to keep your frail body alive

@esinach Lmao I lived under socialized medicine for 20 years and have paid more in taxes than most of the people on this thread. But nice assumptions you got there, very "woke" of you

@eagle3676 I'd rather put that money in a retirement plan and use it when needed tbh. I don't need daddy government to do it for me

@eagle3676 I'd rather pay for my family and friend's healthcare costs than some random stranger that just happens to live in the same country as I do. If that makes me selfish then so be it

@eagle3676 If I send you my bank information will you link me some $$? Since you're so against greed and all you should be showing the example

@WabiSabE It's great at first. It always is, and the same can be said for what you call social safety policies. But these services are not "free", they're just funded through taxes. Once the money run out they'll run out too. It already started in Western Europe and it's barely been 20 years for some country (like France with the CMU). High unemployment rates = less taxpayers = more taxes for the rest of the workforce = less people able to spend money and boost the economy etc etc. It's a complicated topic but basically these services will eventually end up crumbling upon themselves and once that happens it will be absolute and utter chaos.
