... What is it with the commonwealth and crazy authoritarian laws
141
I think you glazed over the most interesting part. That part about lawyers telling to say about "complience" instead... Why? This non-transparency is actually what makes a nothingburger into real issue.
30
Be at least 80% sure they supported it
13
Ahem, about that...
11
@TheThreatenedSwan defence contractors are not known for being in political opposition
11
@StrongmanLi-pz7sl good, less backdoors in ecosystem that actually matters
10
Imagine coding in a language that is not internationally standardized by at least two committees and have less than 3 compilers. Literally bleeding edge unfit for production.
9
You had one of them messing with your internal politics and threatening to nuke you on a monthly basis. Also hurting your supply lines, engaging in hostile economic deals against your interests, stealing your technologies... Maybe you should care
9
They work pretty well. It's not a loser move when you cripple your target economy and technological potential
6
Aknowledging existance of moscow bots is not an extreme view, it is just seeing reality.
6
@БрухБрух-щ7и please vladimir, tell us more about how finns raided proto-muscovites in 800 BC
6
Comment about the Rusich unit, thirdie
5
Just subscribed for donation to LSF
5
@Foche_T._Schitt why? My point is not about any kind of moral high ground.
5
@gzoechi wtf? When Linux started, C WAS ALREADY AN ISO STANDARD.
5
@daedalus547 CPU doesn't care about politics (before the backdoor executes), but the one who launches a rocket with the CPU inside - he does
5
Dunno man, TempleOS have better UI than gnome, so maybe they are onto something...
5
They don't. It's said again and again - these guys were removed for being affiliated with sanctioned companies (defence contractors mostly)
4
@HksjJkdkd state-controlled big holdings and corporations? Check. State-controlled economy? Check. State-run internal propaganda? Check. One party state? Check. I dunno man, I haven't even started to talk about Hans and already checked all the boxes. But this word is so fuzzy these days...
4
Total thirdie removal, common W by Linus
4
@iarde3422 uh oh? Thirdie, please tell me what is the credit rating of Russia right now? Tell me which country lately used barter to trade for (luxury but still) food? Tell me how's Iranian appliance industry doing?
4
@ScorgRus lmao, "workers asked", "Afghanistan asked" muscovite, nobody believes your lies
4
Ivan voted for this, and most likely yelled about how yankees are idiots for giving him pirated windows or free linux
4
@daskampffredchen thirdie, Chinese literally tried to backdoor Unix ecosystem few months ago and got caught red handed
4
Look at all the muscovite seething under EVERY one of these videos. Priceless
4
@someperson1829 I'm sorry serb but the massive unalivings will stop
4
Ban them from there, we have SpaceX
4
@iRelevant.47.system.boycott you don't own the ISS, Ivan
4
(whatabout) (whatabout) Ivan pls
4
What is woke here?
4
@iRelevant.47.system.boycott usually I don't say stuff like this but you guys literally embody "everything I don't like is woke" meme
4
> justice system > Muscovite Pick one
4
@daedalus547 consistency much? Are you the "no politics in code" guy or the "noooo NSA backdoors" guy? Or just an Ivan who prefers KGBackdoors?
4
@SalivatingSteve that's how they got the "unsafe" directive
4
Don't disrespect Java, it actually made software more secure
3
@nono-yw3tv the license, in fact, does not
3
@madProgenitorDeity lmao, have your +15 rupiees. No, it doesn't describe Europe. Nederland has access to the best modern tools and manufacturing. Italian workers are not swept by defence contractors. In the UK, you can make an international IPO or find a business growth loan.
3
@nono-yw3tv you do not understand country-wide and industry-wide sanctions. They are not personal sanctions against leaders. And population? Nobody cares about it. This type of sanctions has a specific economic goal in mind: to make "something" economically unviable or at least raise costs high enough. Size of Russia just means they have long supply lines and much infrastructure to repair. And pay more to Schlumberger to extract their precious oil from the middle of nowhere in 20°F
3
Great idea, please install it on your infrastructure, too
3
Now this comment goes into the "cycle of Russian economic crisis" compilation
3
He should do both really
3
@igorthelight yes, they haven't made a public stance against the aggression and not moved from moscow
3
@TheThreatenedSwan well, this logic can be mirrored against you - "disregarding any news from msm is just a shield against real criticism". Trust is a fragile thing, muscovites should have anticipated that
3
> kernel should be rewritten in fortran Based, do it
3
So many words for "no language standard"
3
@thcrs1 4 replies, 0 alternative compilers
3
@tripwire8457 russo-japanese, separation of Poland, Winter, Afghanistan, Chechnya, need I continue
3
@horusfalcon except they do, they work for Baikal and other ru hardware firms that literally are defence contractors
3
GRU/Leninx
3
Cython in kernel > rust in kernel
