To be honest these parents don't know much so why do we need to hear the same things all over. Nobody knows at this point if it was targeted or not because we all know that not all killers target people but they target homes that are easy accesible. As with the other stabbings in the night in Idaho.

It's not obvious actually because usually when you want to kill 1 specific person you are not going to kill them inside of a house where multiple people live. You kill them when they are alone of just with the 2 of them. If this killer had one girl in his mind he made a very risky and stupid decision to go inside, first of all he went in the door on the level where Xana and Ethan were sleeping, a dog was inside, 2 other girls were sleeping downstairs, and then we have Kaylee and Maddy that slept together. The killer easily could have walked away when he realizes it was going to be difficult to kill the person he intended to kill without murdering the others. This person didn't care about murdering the others. Often when one person is targeted the killer would try to get her come to him, or stalk her until he sees that she is alone and then attacks. As well that the students themselves could have had weapons around them. The killer took a big big risk. It was either an experienced killer or just a real stupid one, but if he was stupid then they should find evidence. The weird thing was that the killer wasn't;t stupid to understand that he shouldn't go through the front door because houses look up to the front door of that house. He was hidden better to go in the back. Also he probably knew that the doors would be open because otherwise he wouldn't even be able to get in. I am not sure but there are serialkillers that randomly attack people even multiple people in one night with a knife. It's hard to say if they were targeted simply because their house was easy to get in and was simply the best option to commit the murder if you compare them to the other homes. Maybe one of them was targeted but then the killer made a big mistake by thinking that nobody would woke up from the sounds or even the dog that COULD bark.
