  1. After the Friday press conference. Zelensky's approval ratings went up and Trump's went down. Trump found out the ambush did not work out like he thought it would. He found out leaning toward Putin does not help his approval ratings in the US. Approval and respect is what Trump is looking for. Putin knows that and uses it. Trump found out the American people generally support Ukraine and that they do not approve of Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Perhaps inadvertently, Ukraine's mission was accomplished through costuming.

  2. Putin must be very pleased to see that Mr. Trump and his supporters have ruined the reputation and credibility of the United States. He cannot be pleased with his current situation of facing a cease-fire proposal.

Further, the American voting public, who will survive Mr. Trump, are more likely to be viewed by citizens of other nations as capable of electing similarly capricious leaders in the future. The loser here will be one of America's largest exporters, that is, defense contractors. Putin and Xi can only be pleased by that outlook.
