  4. I think the nation's morale is going down, and that will affect the economy. Tariffs are sales taxes. That will affect the economy. Prison population will go up. That will affect the economy. Patel should be under pressure to deliver on the most wanted list that already exists.

  8. @ Yeah. First they have to come to believe that there is a spirit that survives the death of the body. They act like death is the end, that is, it's ok for them to try to get away with things.

  9. @ You know, George Washington would speak of how he felt unqualified for the job of President. Check that out for yourself. Mr. Patel seems to tell himself that he is the best man for the job. A better man of his level of experience would know good people to consult with and present a better recommendation of who should fill this position. "16 years" he kept saying. From my perspective at age 67, that is not qualifying experience to lead the FBI. Look at your own experience in leadership and management. What an awesome power it is to be able to steer other minds as one wills. I hope Mr. Patel rises to the occasion, and that his interactions with the excellence that exists at the FBI improves his character. I fear his vanity and self-delusion and temperament.

  10.  @smoothsailing3201  I'd say Trump's other pick, Wray, had more and better experience. Patel's resume has too many recent, short terms of service. The public defender role does not strike me as the best prep for FBI director. Not enough time in counter terror and definitely not enough time in counterintelligence, which probably suits Putin just fine. Comey also had more and better experience. Mueller beats them all, having received a two-year extension of the 10 year term.
