Good comment. I like to ask kids, "Do you think you know more now than you did five years ago?" They always say yes. Then I ask them, "Do you think you will know more five years from now than you do today?" Often they go "Ahhhhh . . . "

What a wonderful, beautiful thing to say. Bless you.

They were told their daughter would commit suicide if they did not cooperate. Of course, it was a false choice, but presented by an "authority".

Yes! My mother-in-law is into art therapy after getting her MS in mental health therapy.

David, I hope we learn something soon that will make things better for you. Good comment.

@johnjingleheimersmith I read through your comments. Bibliography link or a title or two?

Nothing like a big lawsuit to get rules revised and practices improved. The whole either/or "trans or suicide" false choice calls for a whole lot of scientific investigation, as well as education in what we apparently have already scientifically established in adolescent psychology. We should continue to develop metrics for suicide risk for this and other factors that prompt people into that thinking. This supremely threatening false choice and sound alternatives to it should be a new line item in what constitutes good parent training and parent/child counseling. I would not mind making memorization of the threat's existence a condition for high school graduation or passing 6th grade for that matter. It leads one to ask, at what age can a human being possess informed consent?

Perhaps the standard of care needs to include referral to a specialist in assessing suicide risk.

The comments on this video by "tom boys" seem to me overwhelming evidence in favor of your statements.

Study Anti-Social Personality Disorder and consider adding what you learned to your paradigm, to how you view the world. A characteristic of ASPD is a lack of self-doubt. Self-doubt can lead to revisions in planning that can prevent some measure of waste and improve results. Peterson shows again and again that Marx lacked self-doubt. The same disorder has less trouble with seizing power through force, showing an indifference to human suffering by inflicting it to survive and obtain status. ASPD is alive and well in our time, and adds to explanations for not raising the minimum wage or otherwise undervaluing team members whose contribution was supposedly essential and the reason for hiring them in the first place. But history shows it is almost futile to expect the remorseless to make a shift in their views regarding compensation. Unions did make a difference. Another approach to the issue is the Capital Homestead Act, or the Economic Democracy Act, which can be further investigated at the website of the Center for Economic and Social Justice.

It's what young girls need to hear, said with respect and courage, even if they act like they don't believe it.

After reading through many comments, I think it would be helpful for young girls to have chats with former "tom boys". There are more of them than clinical psychologists. The young do not grasp timelines very well.
