Lederer and Jackson in The Mirages of Marriage advocated for marriage around the age of 25, and no earlier than 21. This aligns with brain development. Best if the woman gets to be geographically reasonably close to her mother if that is a working relationship. It's a flag if it is not. Try to meet mom early in the relationship. She should meet the man's dad and mom and see how well the young man interacts with his mother.

@annmarieknapp I have observed that time with our grandchild makes my wife very happy. It also gives the parent(s) a break.

If your job is such that you can make extra money by working enough additional hours to pay for a surprise or scheduled dinner and night at a nice hotel, that I have found to be enough separation and novelty to set up a nice time together. (Childcare, when necessary, is of course a major logistical item for such a date.) A wife's home is often perceived by her as a set of perpetual tasks in plain sight. It helps to get her out of there. The spouse might start to keep an overnight bag at the ready. Playing games with the appearance of infidelity seems risky and unkind. It might work, but I think viewers need a checklist of what kind of spouse it is highly likely to work on. I would think both spouses need to feel secure in the relationship and in themselves. The spouse is of a nature likely to detect the "game" and find it both amusing and seductive. This could be tested beforehand by observing less risky forms of surprises, like a romantic card or other gift of some kind. It seems to me the "game" is best played in small steps.

Work to become a happier person. Be a helper. Look for a happy person who is also a helper.
