Best if the woman gets to be geographically reasonably close to her mother if that is a working relationship. It's a flag if it is not. Try to meet mom early in the relationship. She should meet the man's dad and mom and see how well the young man interacts with his mother.

  2.  @annmarieknapp  I have observed that time with our grandchild makes my wife very happy. It also gives the parent(s) a break.
