  1. No. I think the Russians are sacrificing their younger and less experienced troops to let them consume Ukrainian munitions and other supplies. It makes sense to me that the more experienced soldiers and outright goons are being conserved for a mop up and control going forward. It's consistent with this more select group seeking to survive to assume greater power in Putin's machine as they continue in their careers. Sure, they would have been thrilled to have the newbies get all the hard work done, saving themselves from that effort. Dark days are ahead, but one has to admire Ukranian resistance. I hope history records it.
