"News"? Really? If your education and family did not equip you to identify hyperbole, the biased use of adjectives and adverbs, the absence of conscience in some people, and the fundamental tools with which to evaluate the integrity of anyone you are dealing with, then you need to go get those tools. Private media corporations will always be about the money. That is not going to change. Even NPR and PBS, still perhaps the most "journalistic" of major media outlets, are influenced by private money. The United States is held together by the credit worthiness of the Federal government which borrows absurd amounts of money each year to prop up the economy, and the deep desire of corporations to have open borders between the States for the smooth exercise of their commerce. Throw in the English language and you have the basic components of unity: the necessity of commerce for survival and the ability to communicate in trade. We have seen a rather tentative respect for the Constitution. I never expect private media to reform. I take everything they say as biased, and I don't need them to be otherwise. I dig for facts elsewhere.
