Anybody in Greenland watching Jake? This American wants to start sending you good wishes for your peace and continued autonomy.

Hi Denmark! Best wishes from this American.

Hello and my best regards to Denmark from this American!

I can imagine there are structural engineering measures that could be employed to have a stray anchor just slide over a cable. I also wonder if hydrophones could detect a lowered anchor moving through the water. I would think it might have a unique signature. Detected in time, a NATO vessel could confront the offending ship. There is also outright escorting vessels over key areas.

Beach house on the North Korean coast could be a great place for Trump to sell his ideas to Kim on coastal real estate development. Putin could hop in from Vladivostok. They could top it off with one of those military parades in Pyongyang. Parade directors could probably work up something special for Trump. He'd love it.

Good points.

I fear it is just cover for a deal we have never seen the likes of.

And it makes sense that adversaries would support isolationist movements. Whatever money can buy.

I think you are right. Oil investment companies started calling me in the last few weeks. Right now the Trump program appears to be tightening the labor market. Still, there might be some Venezuelans still in the US with the needed skills.

It's getting sick over here. My kind regards to the UK.

@Silveirias They just need to inspect and escort over the cable cross section and then wait for the next ship. Tedious, yes.

Making the best of what we're stuck with.

The money has to be right. And then there's the matter of the deal warranting a Nobel Peace Prize.

The scary thing is that all this Trump tough guy toward Putin stuff could just be a cover Putin coached him on. He's told Trump before that he, Putin, should not be perceived as having too friendly a relationship with him. Trump's projects have been getting Russian financing for years (quotes from Jr. and Eric that were still on the internet not long ago). American banks backed off Trump projects after too many losses. Unless the Europeans have offered Trump billions in project financing, Putin may still have more of Trump's favor than meets our eyes at this time. It's big money, high stakes. The mob bosses might talk global turf settlement and getting back to making money. This Canada and Greenland stuff could be signaling to Russia, not just Europe. Trump might be staking America's future turf and leaving Europe for Putin. He thinks in real estate terms. He sees war as a waste. Water boundaries still matter.

Now can they beat Venezuela when it's time for the transfer of power?

Trump has some concept of a new global order. I think he's still working on it. Putin probably has a lot of good ideas. Musk has some ideas. God help us.

There's still a winter window for hitting the Russian electric utility grid if Ukraine has been saving up drones and missiles for that mission. It will take hundreds of hits to take it down, as it is a system designed with being attacked in mind. There's a whole transmission ring bus around Moscow with many switching stations in the ring. It can take a lot of hits and keep the lights and heat on. If Trump sells out Ukraine, that's what Ukraine will need to do, and that could tip Russia into very hard times. European air power would need to help Ukraine, because Russia would hit back as hard as it could short of nuclear. This risk of escalation can actually spur on negotiations. Russia is still selling crude oil. It's economy is smaller than it used to be as far as productive goods and services, but it's still finding ways to keep going.

Putin is ready to raise the table. Trump has just gotta love playing with this power.

Peace on Earth, Good Will to Canada from this American!

At the rate his minions are dismantling the US Constitution, he may be king for life. Putin may have his best troops right here in America, which might explain the poor performance in Ukraine. It's getting sick, fast. Hope you are right, and I am wrong. US Congress better bring in the generals for a chat, because the Executive Branch is going lawless, and the Proud Boys are back on the street.

Militaries must plan conservatively.
1
I agree. I think Putin is ready to put billions on the table in financing for Trump organization projects. Trump will say they had a very good talk in private. Very good talk. Probably the most important talk ever.

You may have a future in comic relief 😁

My fear as well. The "tough guy" may be cover. Trump would like a Nobel Prize, because Obama has one. He won't get that if he gives Putin too much. But he could chuck that idea if the money is right.
1
He is welcome to the whole course, all day, every day, all by himself and his caddie.
1
China can, for a price of course.
1
The long game has not improved Russia's demographics.
1
Probably Russian gold bricks on the table.
1
Just that Russia wants the sanctions lifted indicates the sanctions cause stress. Leave the world, and China moves in and gets stronger.

@ Senator Chuck Schumer, Democratic leader in the Senate, and the courts, are pushing back like they are supposed to. Trump has done enough unconstitutional things already to justify commencing impeachment. It will be up to a small group of Republicans in both Senate and House to reach their limit of tolerance of Trump's lawlessness. Write your Senators and House Representative. If they are Republican, find out who is going to run against them in 2026. That's better than a gunfight.

Fair point. Though I do think Afghanistan is surpassed only by Antarctica when it comes to difficulties for American logistical support of projects. Still, the rare earths and good will might have been worth it. Afghan fate lies with China, Pakistan, and perhaps India.
