  2. So Republicans are probably OK with the idea of millions of Ukrainians coming to the United States when they've go no place else to go. We need more and bigger consulates in sending nations. Immigrants and jobs can be lined up in an orderly way. Consulates can effectively become ports of entry and sanctuary cities. Immigrants can be vetted at the consulates, not the border. The capacity of the geography of the United States will be reduced somewhat by sea level rise, but more important are fresh water resources. The United States has significant energy capacity, but more of that would need to be used to treat unpotable waters into potable water. Obviously treating sea water and retaining it on the land would mitigate sea level rise, but at a high energy cost. The limits might be fresh water economics.
