If all they are asking for is some proof of divestment, then I tend to think the right financial people could sincerely come up with that, let things sit for a while, and then re-optimize the portfolio. I suppose the students might get suspicious if the institution didn't make some kind of fuss, like complaining tuition will need to go up a small tad to offset losses. Surely the students would agree to that.
