"We all know". No. The Colorado Supreme Court found that Donald Trump committed insurrection, and on the basis of that finding disqualified him from the ballot in Colorado. The Supreme Court did not dismiss their charge as frivolous or without standing. So lawyerly people do see an insurrection. Just like we might in a Bible study, we can look up the definition of insurrection in 19th century dictionaries that can be found online. I found Webster's interesting in that it sees insurrection as a broad term encompassing sedition and rebellion. That is the meaning of the word as those who wrote the 3rd section of the 14th amendment understood it. We should take care not to bear false witness against our neighbors in Colorado. Insurrection is in front of the Supreme Court, and being considered, right now.

Mr. Crane, the Colorado Supreme Court found Donald Trump committed insurrection as the basis for its ballot disqualification ruling. I am not aware that the SCOTUS has effectively rebutted that finding. The US DOJ is bringing a different charge of obstruction because the prosecutor is extra cautious given the limited case history on insurrection in America. There is much more case history on obstruction of official proceedings. Resorting to "we all know" and "everybody knows" is a giveaway, an appeal to cave in to an imaginary peer pressure. I reject that pressure and your attempt to impose it. I hope citizens in Mr. Crane's District will reconsider his re-election.
