  1. What makes America different from the typical strongman state that ends up not being so strong? The nation that understands and represents the various personality types in its population can devise compromises that maximize the morale and effort of its citizens and thus achieve the maximum power, in all its various forms, that population is capable of. To do otherwise is to lower the general morale, leaving some feeling strong, but the state as a whole in a weakening trend. Governor DeSantis is failing to honor the COVID dead and their families. His detachment from suffering is excessive. While many see that as strong, they fail to see how alienating this conduct is to over half of the population. So do you really want to have an exceptional state and nation? Then, if you do not feel empathy, you need to develop cognitive or rational empathy, and act the part in the interest of strengthening the state.

  5.  @Alwayscatlike  And why would someone stay in teaching when they can make twice or more the money in the trades? You don't need a degree to do the trades. OK, some people, like my wife, actually like teaching kids, and will even substitute teach for minimum wage sometimes. But why dodge the administrator salary Deborah? Hey, why not take a business degree and make six figures heading up a charter school? Staff turnover? Hey, just enough salary to fill the slots with people too scared to question if a kid really earned that diploma. Charters are about the people who stay in the business long term. Teachers are secondary and expendable. If my kid said he wanted to be a business man, I would tell them to go to a charter school and study the principal, how they talk, how they behave, because that's where the money is. Follow the money.

If it's OK for multi-national corporations to help their political friends, then it's OK for unions to help their political friends. And I actually admire a school that refuses to lower its standards and give out feel good diplomas. When we see those statistics, then we see that some digging for truth is needed. Why did they fail? Rather than, good job kid, no matter what you did, cuz I need those stats for the Board. The relevant statistics are something closer to SAT and ACT scores, not a diploma based on closely held metrics. Prove charters don't have the right to cherry pick students when competing with public schools. Is it really a level playing field?

I have friends and acquaintances who have died. Just had to quarantine an employee for two weeks. Not productive. You write a decent essay whose thesis seems to be there is a game within the game within the game. The national power is being undermined here. Part of the way forward is taking personal responsibility for identifying and practicing good public health behavior. We do it for all of us, for the nation.
