  1. The top 20 percent also have most of the income. So of course they pay more income tax. How would it be otherwise? is this their way of saying they don't want their taxes raised? What would happen if their raise was smaller and those they employ got a bigger raise? That would prop up Social Security and Medicare.

  2. Hey, trim any increase in my Social Security benefit if that will help. If it was going to be 2%, then make it 1%. That's a start.
