  2. The dark money power caved, Charles Koch, etc. Republican senators are simply their front men, well, maybe not Romney or Sasse or Langford or Collins or Murkowski, sometimes. After they discerned Schumer would succeed in painting them as the bad guys, and the economic losses they themselves were going to sustain, they caved. Money power uses brinkmanship. Schumer laid out his public relations plan to Mitch McConnell, and it came across as likely to succeed.
