  1. Europe needs to do something dramatic to deter Russia. Air power support to Ukraine in a well-chosen regional counterattack could present Russia with a future of continued loss of the territory it has stolen. Russia needs to hear that Ukraine will be in NATO unless Russia withdraws entirely from Ukraine. They would reject that today. If they were losing Ukrainian territory, they might start talking seriously. See the negotiations between the US and N Vietnam. Progress was made when American aerial bombing was escalated and Haiphong Harbor was mined. The possibility of nuclear war existed then. It did not happen. But Europe must also look at Vietnam and take note that the aggressor bides his time and returns to take what he could not have before.
