@BigBadJohn How is that the case with Canada? They showed up in Afghanistan after 9/11. Canada paid for 16 aircraft already.

And it's not like it ends with Trump. The American electorate in general has shown it will be capricious on any issue in foreign affairs, repetitively playing the "problems at home" card. The USAF says they need more of them. Transfer the sale to the USAF. Lockheed still gets its money in the long run.

@4thDimensionParanormal Didn't Trump fix all that in 2018 with the USMCA?

@wendyreed7265 Without the American nuclear umbrella, more nations are going to be developing nuclear arsenals. There will be a market for Canadian oil and uranium. Canada will increase its activity with ESA. US western coastal blue states will be more friendly to Canada. Trumpian patrimonialism will weaken the United States economically and thus militarily. Meritocracies will continue to advance. The American threat will diminish with its economy and Canada and its allies will be able to improve their defenses. Beyond Trump, the US may become less hostile to Canada, but the American public is likely to continue to vacillate politically and thus be an unreliable partner in any alliance. Putin and Xi running victory laps.

@ASmithee67 Was that advantage offset by something for the US? Why would Trump or his trade negotiator miss something like that?

And the American people are too volatile. Too many of them are unwittingly supporting patrimonialism, a real step backward in their history to the spoils system. Go back to the French on the submarines. Russian propaganda will continue to work on enough American minds through social media to keep the country vacillating on foreign policy.

@LindaLandry-z7z If the USAF won't take them, I hope Canada has 16 air and space museums to put these planes in.

@allanrussell353 Maybe some time in the future Australia will at least have store credit for something it needs.

@neilfrasersmith Not before establishing a replacement though.

@Ridgelinehunter007 Submarines need ongoing logistical support. America has become too capricious, and Russian and Chinese influence will be working very hard to keep it that way.
