  1. VW has a bad reputation for reliability here in USA.. Same for Audi, Mercedes, and BMW.  This reputation has been earned.

  5. They are not.. Not at all.  Mercedes is nothing like they used to be.. Mercedes reliability has gone down the tubes . Not since 1988 or so..have they made a reliable car.

  6. What is VAG?  Volkswagen AG ?  Porsche for some reason seems to be ok..   BMW , VW, Audi, Merc, all Shit when it comes to reliability.. Ever since the Electronic age hit for these cars.. Right around 1988 1989 when they started to go all electronic.. Even so.. Some of the mechanical bits were problematic on S class models..  The E class was fantastic until 1989 when they started going to Electronic fuel injection and plastic intakes and the like.. Even the interior bits got shotty.

  7. All my problems began with the S class in 1993. As for engines.. I have had problems with Transmission seals and bearings, on the engine only crank triggers. Interior problems include Switches, and computer notifications which default read outs.. An on and on and on... Who would want to go 300,000 km in a car with these problems?  I mean.. Who ?  I am sure in your country you do not care if the back windows do not row up.. Or the AC no longer works.. But here in America.. We care !

  8. I used to say the same thing about Mercedes.. But that was before 1990.

  9. my bmw 6 series cracked the head at 67,000 miles.. The AC constantly had to be recharged. Never idled good but ran great once the head was replaced with the head from a 7 series.  When ever I opened the sun roof, it would suck exhaust fumes into the car.. Clutch master cylinder went bad at around 90,000 miles leaking all its fluid inside the car drivers side what a mess !!!   That is about it..

  13. Only Lincoln/Ford and Lexus/Toyota have good reliability here in USA.. All other cars have shit records for reliability.
