15:24 This is what it feels like to have lived through the promise of the 1990s, only to arrive at the sheer and utter debacle of shame that we are presently. Every day, the trip around the drain gets a little faster and a little tighter.

The shaved heads and gis discussion becomes a little pollyanna. Joe's take of "it gives the kids something to work for while the others learn to appreciate" is probably the most unrealistic take possible. In short, the kids who have, flex on those who don't. That's the dynamic. There's no aspiration of the poor kid to work harder to look like the rich kid, because the rich kid didn't work for it. The premise is literally that their parents give it to them. Yeah he mentions compassion, but when did great disparity ever engender compassion? It's a ridiculous notion and represents, in a very small way, the reason why we have the problems that we do. When it comes to the have nots, they should just work harder and be thankful for whatever meager existence they can eke out, while looking up to the haves who didn't work for what they have. Society is a schoolyard writ large. How profound. 🙄

1:56:03 Gil flubbed this one a bit. This was a joke that Artie Lange heard from James Caan. "What's the worst thing a woman can hear after b___ing Willie Nelson? - I'm not Willie Nelson." Miss ya Gilbert.

This might make the Spotify employees already protesting over JRE implode altogether.

 @braziliantexatlantis7485 He was also friends with Artie who told the story on Gilbert's podcast, and possibly on Stern.

Nah, Joe would say it's a "simple" lifestyle choice. All day fasting or buying organic, grass-finished, opera-serenaded bison would be the way to go, income be damned (at least in his world).

Omg yes. "Muh rights!"

Let's also talk about how the most unhealthy things are prominent in our food supply because of government subsidies. There's a very good reason a cheeseburger is $2 while a salad is $6. Let's talk about industrial pollutants in our food supply and in our blood which causes thyroid and endocrine systems to become impaired. It's not a reasonable inference that nearly half of the nation just makes bad diet choices or can't put the fork down. Obesity is certainly a factor, but the metabolic authorities in every comment section (not including the OP in this necessarily) dismissing it as a "simple" lifestyle choice are really missing it.

 @SigFigNewton Oh don't get me started on that one. This is Murica, we don't do affordable.

 @Diesel257 Yeah no.

How about Ohio Governor DeWine's administration there Daisy? How about the local EPA who did next to nothing? How about local corporate oligarchs who allow the railroad to create unsafe conditions through a town no one cares about? Nah let's blame Biden. Let's also forget that 45 made train transport less safe in 2017 by withdrawing a rule mandating better, more reactive ECP brake systems on trains just like the one that derailed in East Palestine. Had this train been fitted with these brakes, the severity would've been considerably less. His administration also killed an Obama-era rule requiring a two personnel train crew in 2019. Both moves were to please big business and screw the people who have to live around rail lines. So if we're charging Biden, the orange one will be right behind him.

 @daisymae749 45 made trains even more dangerous. Like I said. This isn't baseball, it doesn't if your team is up or down. This is about people's lives. Your guy, along with big business interests that the Republicans absolutely love (particularly Norfolk Southern, who contributed 6 million dollars to Republican politicians... just a coincidence though, right?) canceled rules that could've prevented this derailment or made it considerably less severe. The people responsible? That would be the party you love so dearly. You voted for this, congrats.

 @HAMMERHEAD-g3h "Other people don't understand why you do the things you do but for you, that's the best path." You've described literally everyone. It's not special "wild man." Nor is being a thrill seeker. It's a pretty common caricature actually, and they always think they're a special, rare person.
