Comments by "" (@Capitalismrules) on "TX school board pres pushes back on holiday ‘inclusivity: Call it ‘Christmas break’" video.
Well , the break exists precisely because it is Christmas . No requirement to celebrate it , if you so wish , but it is a Christmas break , nonetheless

@yomomscouch2841 Celebrate the break as you so wish , but acknowledge that it exists because of Christmas 🎄

@Cupid-Stunt Never in the United States
7
@Cupid-Stunt Not when it comes to the history and traditions of the United States . The U.S. simply didn't exist before 1776
7
@Cupid-Stunt I speak of U.S. traditions and customs only , which began in 1776 . Before then , there was no United States to speak of

Should our Independence Day holiday be used to celebrate the independence of ALL nations ? 🤔

@winsomemartinez When you say " picked up steam " , what you really mean is that it became more commercialized . Christians living in the United States have always celebrated the holiday .
4
@winsomemartinez " There's no worse hatred than Christian love "

@nonameissafer.8457 I'm an atheist , however I do acknowledge that the break has existed in the United States because it is when Christmas is celebrated . Accept it
3
@Cupid-Stunt Let's stop modifying holidays just to placate all groups of people . Look what's been done to Columbus Day . Christmas has always been celebrated in the U.S.
3
@winsomemartinez I'm an atheist , so I much prefer the commercialized version
3
@promethiac2641 Let's decide " President's Day " isn't inclusive and celebrate " Elected officials day " instead 👍
3
@nonameissafer.8457 You are not required to celebrate the holiday but do acknowledge that it is a " break " precisely because of Christmas
2
@nonameissafer.8457 The holiday came to exist in the United States because Christmas was celebrated during this time . Other nations have an Independence Day as well
1
@nonameissafer.8457 I don't recall ever reading how the United States celebrated Chanukah
1
@nonameissafer.8457 We've included it in the all encompassing " holiday " term , but was never celebrated by America until quite recently as a ' feel good ' measure
1
@nonameissafer.8457 Not by Christians , who as a group , primarily ruled the U.S. Other groups have been placate to include their " holiday " into the celebrations
1
@nonameissafer.8457 You seriously believe that our nation as a whole celebrated Kwanza ? Or Chanukah? Who's the fool again ? I'm not in favor of political correctness being applied to everything . You go on believing that the federal holiday , when first implemented , was meant to include all beliefs and traditions and that our current populace isn't trying to modify the holiday to become inclusive and less offensive
1
@nonameissafer.845 For whatever nefarious reasons , it became a " Christmas " break . That's my only point . The break was not meant to Celebrate other religions until quite recently . I'm young , and even I remember all the signs denoting " Christmas " .
1
@winsomemartinez Federal holidays came much later in U.S. history . Before that , states decided holidays and Dec 25th was denoted as Christmas
1
@winsomemartinez It was called a " Christmas " break for many years until it was decided that we should be more politically correct
1
@promethiac2641 They are better celebrated when one is off the entire day from school or work
