If we had national health care and free college tuition ( for those with qualifying grades ) , Americans would not need to work as many hours . Look at other western nations where the 40 hour work week suffices . Couple college payments with health care costs , and many of us are " taxed " at rates exceeding 100 percent , hence the need for loans .

@UCiOuj5jTbbf63kkt2Nyrmbw That's a big problem as well . Politicians can be as corrupt as they like since their respective continuents will vote for party . All many voters require is the correct rhetoric from their candidate .

Residents of capitalist nations , with prudent social safety nets , free college , and a national health care program , aren't the ones fleeing for other countries . Look at where immigrants come from . It ain't from western European nations .

@nicolast.davinci1561 however , that 50 percent covers large expenses . As it stands now , paying for college raises the effective tax rate to over 100 percent for many Americans . So they need to obtain loans to cover the difference . Many private colleges cost well over 75,000 per year .

I'm taxed for public transportation , but do not use it . Same with public schooling .

@nicolast.davinci1561 Such a profound statement . Way to raise the bar of this conversation ! Complete with emogis , no less !

I see too many Americans working hard and struggling , while the lazy sit back and get taken cared for . In my world , only those that work should reap reward from taxpayer funds . If you're able bodied , you must work if you expect assistance . That would lower costs and burden on the taxpayer .
2
@nicolast.davinci1561 Of course not ! Our rates would be like western European nations , about 50 percent .
1
@nicolast.davinci1561 It would have to be done intelligently though . Only those that are deserving should be assisted with college tuition payments . Right now , only the rich and the poor , don't need to worry . Those in the middle - tough luck !
1
@nicolast.davinci1561 The tax rate would go up I said . In western European nation it hovers around 50 percent .
1
@nicolast.davinci1561 Public schools are paid for by property taxes . Very few would be able to afford a public school education if they had to pay for it directly . In my state , first to 5th grades costs about $23, 000 per year , per student .
1
@nicolast.davinci1561 Raising the tax rate will cover the costs . Many will be taxed , and won't use the benefits , or may in the future , much like public schools now . It works in western European nations .
1
@nicolast.davinci1561 If a family of 4 makes 100, 000 a year , and pay the current rate , they're left with about 70, 000 . Now that pay 2 college tuitions , let's say 50,000 per year and health care insurance , yes , they make less than they spend . Hence , student loans cause they cannot afford on their salary .
1
@nicolast.davinci1561 You do know that , as a collective group , we can afford much more , right ? It's the way public education works . We all pay , whether or not we utilize it at the moment .

Putin is better than Joe Biden All of us . Like we do for roads , parks , public schools , etc . On our own , it would becomes more costly .
1
Right now , the ones that don't work , and the rich , have no worries when it comes to college tuition or health care costs . You'd rather that ?
1
Putin is better than Joe Biden it works in western European nations . No one is fleeing Norway .
1
Putin is better than Joe Biden Who's coming to the U.S. ? The downtrodden ? Are the Swedish ? The Germans ? The Australians ?
1
Gotta go . Need to pay for other people's welfare , free housing , and the like . Nothing in it for working Americans .We just pay for benefits we don't receive ourselves .
