Huawei is headed by a PLA officer, in a country that values harmony of roles and legally compels companies to cooperate with state intelligence. Ergo, Huawei is easily a potential -- if not already active -- partner with Chinese offensive intelligence.

Not competition, it's a matter of technical security. The US Government banned the use of Huawei and ZTE equipment in its networks years ago for a reason, and is now trying to convince the rest of the world to reconsider its information infrastructure too.
