"Multipolar" just means multiple fault lines of conflict. The reason Pax Romana, Pax Mongolica, Pax Britannica, and Pax Americana are named after a single power is because enforcing security over like a third of humanity at the time allowed cross-cultural trade to thrive. America is relatively tolerant and agnostic compared to the ethnostate alternatives. A "multipolar" world would just end up more violent because so much of the world isn't natively born and has no hope to naturalize and assimilate into their hegemon society, leading to more civil wars to change that leadership which fractures trade routes and disrupts peaceable commerce entirely.

Winner-take-all voting guarantees convergence on a two-party system. Disenchanted Republicans will more likely sit out and wait for someone more sane instead.

It's been happening already, with algorithms promoting "engaging" Russian disinformation and distrust, while suppressing anti-Beijing stories due to corporate interests.

The opposition can only apply pressure, but the only ones who can effectively change the Republican Party are Republicans themselves. And right now they lack courage to do what's right as they cower from the extreme right.

Few people feel better off, but that's a problem of media-driven marketing and not the underlying economics. Much like how non-whites didn't feel better off during the Civil Rights Movement when legal segregation was getting deconstructed, the news cycle filled with riots and assassinations.

You're generous to think the Democrats are a "political party". They're more a corporate-moderated flame war between a bunch of clashing interests due to the infinite paths for a progressive future.
