Americans have the money though. We complain about inflation because we're competing harder against each other due to the supply shocks of China's Zero-COVID and Russia tossing explosives all over Ukraine. Meanwhile China is failing to recover because the average consumer have exhausted bank accounts and anxiety about their future earnings, while working age Russians are fleeing their country at their earliest opportunity.

Those fully automated harvesters are American, it's among the biggest US exports to China. American cotton is expensive because it's top grade material used in the finest clothing, whereas Xinjiang cotton is more the disposable fast fashion kind.
