In America, the color of your skin does influence the content of your character because of the way others treat you, and thus the mentality you develop.

Test scores alone don't make for a respectable human being. "Just because you can doesn't mean you should," and it sounds like the "personality" rating attempts to balance capability with judiciousness.

"Merit" gets measured differently for different groups in practice. Minorities have to already have performed something tangible, whereas white men get to be judged on something more vague like "potential".

Good grades alone don't make respectable human beings. Colleges don't want embarrassing alumni, like if one turns out to be a mad scientist with a long ethics rap sheet.

Different skin leads to different thoughts. How you're treated in the real world affects how you think, work through challenges, and ultimately produce solutions. Diversity is important because no one mentality has a monopoly on good ideas.

Conservatives desire uniformity. In practice that also means in ethnicity too.

No, they'll probably go even more aggressively "legacy" for the income and exclusivity. The Asians who would get in would be on student visas in a foreign passport.

The "racism" at least tries to directly counteract the racism that brought us to this point. Allowing to to fester as it does now is like leaving a cancerous tumor untouched: it will just grow out of control and exacerbate all our other societal injustices.

Asian Americans experience popular discrimination based on personality, hence the stereotype of submissive rational bandwagoning money-hoarders. Corroborating that stereotype (great grades but lacking originality and artistry) then gets used against the applicant, who was raised to expect that academic performance alone should be sufficient to earn a seat on campus. Suppressing what else were capable and passionate about is what's hurting Asian America. Ironically the solution involves rebelling against our parents' conservatism and explore riskier fields like entertainment and politics.

Conservatives don't believe that color should affect a person, but at the same time intentionally set up an environment in which it does. This is why they want to be "blind" to color, so that certain groups get conveniently funneled into certain roles without shedding light on their societal design.
