Part of the solution involves equipment that generates and stores energy that isn't just burned once, but we're nowhere near the amount needed to replace what we use now. Reduction only goes so far before it stagnates development; look at how resource intensive AI calculations get, and how little value added per capita gets generated out of low energy per capita societies.

It'd be in Earth at that point, though that itself is overwhelming and consistent amounts of geothermal energy powered by natural nuclear decay that I'm surprised we still don't pursue more aggressively, especially given our century of experience with deep well drilling.

Sadly a lot more mining is first required before we can develop the technology to make regular return trips past lunar orbit. Especially deep sea mining just for the methods for remote sensing, precise navigation, and mass movements at extreme distances.
