  3. Capacity too, for fuel, avionics, and ordnance. You can be a ripped lean hand-to-hand fighter, but it doesn't mean anything when you're popped from a distance by a husky sniper. And modern radars won't let even the stealthiest aircraft get into gunfight range completely undetected.

  4. As an American I also agree metric is superior, but unfortunately aviation is stuck with the foot-lb-nm system because an un-metric America absolutely dominated the skies for like half a century. Similar story with the dimensions of rail gauges, equipment racks, and shipping containers.

  5. New infrastructure that's going sorely underutilized and still shrinking, but carries the same maintenance costs. That money should have really went to assisting Chinese private ventures and consumers, but that would risk politically empowering the Chinese people too.
