This is a big reason why government spending is "wasteful" compared to "efficient" private businesses -- there is no JIT for niche but crucial defense platforms, and as with any development process there will be lots of failed experiments. Really the closest equivalent is the corporate pharmaceutical industry, and we're all painfully aware how much we pay for prescriptions that are still under patent.

  2. The important part is if Chinese blood means Chinese allegiance, which China through the dynasties always assumes but doesn't necessarily get. Clearing this is a case-by-case basis, since each individual has varying degrees of ties to the old country. And then there's non-heritage folks who simply sell out. But definitely what we should not do is agree with China about guaranteed loyalty and do what we had done with our Japanese in WW2.

  3. I read "unproductive" as retirees, whose increasingly long yet still costly end-of-life is funded by forced gratuities from everyone else who files US taxes. These senior entitlements come at the cost of support to kids and young adults trying to establish their own independently housed lives and families, hence the want for "illegals" who are fine hiding a dorm as they send money back to where a US Dollar is actually worth something. But yes it is in everyone's interests that America remains on top globally, and not let a more regimented and less inclusive China fill our power vacuum.
