@recoil53 F35s are what's needed, and the increased production brings down the cost per unit. The F22 ended production because there was only one buyer (by design) who itself was already eyeing the more easily procured and upgraded F35, along with over a dozen other allied militaries.

F35 isn't designed to dogfight either, but it's good to know it's more nimble if it needs to be (like with trying to dodge missiles) to make up for its relatively shorter legs.

JDAM bolt-on guided bomb kits recently got an upgrade that allows them to track into naval targets, and most Chinese warships don't come with capable air defenses. We have hundreds of thousands of cheap gravity bombs in stock now, which means we could quickly have the capacity to sink the entire PLA Navy and the Chinese maritime militia fleets and still have ordnance to spare.

It's a pain compared to non-stealth aircraft, but F35 maintainability still presents a dramatic improvement over the older F22 and especially the B2.

That's what the AIM-260 is asked to achieve. Luckily we're also comparatively swamped with AWACS and other sensor assets so it would take a lot more effort to blind us from the battlespace.

I've heard our anti-air missiles also bias its detonations towards the front of the target specifically to kill the pilot, chivalry be damned what experience they do have won't be saved and shared.

That's what the NGAD platforms are undergoing now. F22 is unfortunately too "baked in" with its original tech to take on the modern improvements developed since it first rolled. Luckily F35, B21, and NGAD are being designed with more modularity in mind as we invent new packages for it to integrate over the coming years.

It's possible those stealth fighters were flying with reflectors on, which intentionally makes them easily found for airspace safety and jams over their true radar signature. Our stealth fighters do this all the time when their mission doesn't involve the use of stealth (platform training, ferry flights, airshows, etc)

We needed the factory floor space for F35s, early versions of which were likewise ready and lessons from which got the per unit price tag down while capabilities improved.

Likely yes, improvements in military fuel seem to be focused on increasing the share of biofuels whose inputs we can grow, rather than changing the performance of said fuels when finally burned which would fragment supplies trying to stock up an optimized fuel for separate platforms.
