  1. A Mainland takeover of Táiwān doesn't mean China gains TSMC, it means the whole world loses it. High end chip fabrication relies on the human capital of its extremely specialized engineers, able to travel to a fab site quickly and tweak deviating machines back into tolerance (hence why the main competitor to TSMC is Samsung in similarly brain-dense South Korea). Too many Taiwanese engineers would have been killed, expatriated, or refuse to work, and any significant stoppages basically cease forever the brainpower needed to keep creating those chips.
