  2. Because a land war provides opportunities for casual combatants. That isn't available for anti-Western forces in a cross-Straits conflict, because there's no plan to actually invade the Mainland -- in fact all the roles would be reversed.

  3.  @zszs100  If you add China's inward-facing "stability" forces, it's much closer to parity. Combined with aging, debts, pollution, and falling FDI, the PRC is on the path of going broke and shattering under the brittleness of its overly top-heavy civic structure.
