  1. Probably to make more room for the larger battery, as well as try out this Bluetooth/dongle only paradigm every other manufacturer is going for. I'm not a fan, I'd rather have a thicker phone with all the ports built in because a dongle is one more thing to track/break/lose with my higher end headsets.
