  1. Right, the last time China showed formidable naval prowess was like the Ming Dynasty. It'd be interesting to see how well the PLA Navy would perform damage control under fire, especially since most of their "warships" lack effective air defense and would be vulnerable to even cheap guided bombs.

  2. If you count the outrageous amount they spend on military-grade internal policing, the PRC would be well over the US on how much it spends on "state security". Yet they still can't project its will much past the shores it currently controls.

  4. That's not how the demographics work. The bulk of China's population is rapidly aging because they failed to bring up enough younger people to succeed them, whereas America gets a constant supply of young and relatively healthy immigrants who compared to in Europe readily assimilate and Americanize.

  5. Air defenses and AWACS assets are the first priority the US would target though, because air dominance is what rebalances the fight for the often outnumbered Americans. Its pilots regularly train on Suppression/Destruction of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD and DEAD) to clear the way for follow on operations.
