  2. It’s especially worst among the “religious”, who practice the most corrupted inconsiderate morals and get caught performing the most outrageous hypocrisies. There’s a reason religiosity has been dropping in all the advanced economies: organized faith fails to exemplify the very morals of its own dogma.

  3. What keeps me ultimately optimistic about America is just how loud we are when it comes to politics. We habitually dramatize every issue thinking up the doomer scenario, openly advertising to each other about which one is most realistic, and essentially developing the Wisdom of the Crowd well before the next election limited only to which of two candidates seems to align best given the winner-take-all two-sided results constraint. Notice how easily-terrorized conservatives have to rely on voter discouragement and suppression to swing elections in their favor, hence why it's all Red States that preemptively ban all but dichotomous polling. So yeah it's not perfect, but as Churchill remarked we eventually end up doing the right thing after first trying everything else and relearning mistakes in only the dramatic fashion that democracies listen to.

  6. Really the first thing that needs reform is winner-take-all voting, where the polls naturally converge on exactly two results: the one victor, and the lot of all losers.

  7. I'd say it's because the Wisdom of the Crowd blunts bad mistakes as despotic decisions aren't allowed to go faster and harder. It annoyingly blunts good productive ones too, but Negativity Bias doesn't exist due to a history of disappointment.

  8. While Hawai’i may be “subjugated” by the US, at least the US is tolerant to open dissent. The alternative would have been getting conquered by Imperial Japan some years later in their eastward expansion probably under some pretext of “protecting their compatriots” who had migrated there, and they’re infamously not so keen on diversity.

  9. What’s still mysterious is how Falun Gong continues to muster so much money to advertise and operate its annual Shen Yun theater on top of all its various news channels (who both deny its relations with Falun Gong while also have unusually few commercial sponsorships)
