I deliberately brought an old LG smartphone to China, which not only frustrated the performance of inevitable hacks (I can feel the unexpected sluggishness and the heat of the CPU getting maxed out from doing something that I didn't command) but also allowed me to be more observant on the streets. Main issue with this setup was it took literally 1~2 minutes to scan anything on WeChat, which was especially annoying during Zero-COVID where everywhere you entered (including your own apartment) the guards demanded to see your "Health Kit".
