Unfortunately that means making stuff is also the most cost-sensitive and most easily-substituted step of the production process, compared to IP-inventing R&D in the beginning and brand-building Sales & Services at the end. These higher value-added stages explains why developed economies can stay rich despite offshoring its factories... any why the ones that have yet to move up and out ultimately get stuck in the middle-income trap.
