They use such a predictable formula that they should be straightforward to suppress. But no, YouTube would rather cash on their "engagement" while shadowblocking "controversial" comments that criticize subjects like corporate capitalism, Communist China, DJT, etc

@Bruinschuss@luke14fleming means by average influence, where small towners enjoy both outsized electoral value and cultural lionization from our popular media's strongly anti-city narrative biases.

Good used cars are also in short supply. I was lucky to score my 2020 Kia for under $10k... I often see people trying to sell their American '15 for 15+.

Everything private equity touches goes to shit. This is intentional, they're trying to part out their assets like a car thief parts out a stolen ride.

@bradhaines3142 Yeah turns out there is a minimum spend for acceptably safe components. Our safety standards would likely push those retail prices close to what a regular ICE car goes for if they're not loss-leading or getting government kickbacks.

Til you find out that you can't really charge it anywhere. It's already hard enough within China to find an open public charging station (both for cars and their ubiquitous electric "bicycles", I know because I lived there), and in the near term it's even more impractical in America with all the additional electrical work required to put even a Level 1 charger in your own garage.

I'd still get it even if I don't actually need it for anything. It's much like a credit rating: how long you have a history is unusually important compared to how much you actually used it -- being licensed for like 10 years "without incident" could save substantial costs when you do end up needing to drive yourself.

I wouldn't mind riding a motorbike since it's only myself nearly all the time, the problem is I knew I'd eventually be moving overseas and importing my bike there is often even more impossible than with a car, and the lack of potential local buyers who are able and willing to operate a motorcycle is uncomfortably small. Hence I sprang for the next best thing which is a Korean econobox.

@J-wm4ss It's not so much Made In China as Designed By China. Chinese brands have like zero interest in guaranteeing and supporting their products once purchased because they'd rather focus on developing and delivering the next iteration, and it shows in their consistently marginal quality control.
