  1. Being pro-Russia and remaining more dependent wouldn't be any better if the supply side gets disrupted for whatever reason. Resilience through alternatives is more expensive and complex than chasing efficiency, but in the longer run it works.

  3. Too late. China is way overcapacity on production and going nowhere on domestic consumption, so they'll be desperately dumping their wares wherever they can for at least another generation... and as apolitical capitalist consumers we'll be buying.
