No, the passionately right wing makes up only like 1/3 of the electorate, and this could be even smaller considering the number of often progressive-leaning citizens suppressed by some states' deliberate inconvenience if not worse (homeless, college students, minority districts, expats abroad, etc). I'm also a veteran. Our servicemembers are less conservative and more pragmatic than the stereotype suggests -- we don't want to get deployed over another ego-driven adventure. Trump was surprised that he had lost even the military vote. History suggests the more humanist side will win in another cycle of violence against self-interested ideologues, as was the case in the Civil War, the anarcho-communist insurrection, and the Civil Rights Movement.

  2. Being a straight white male doesn't need to be brought up because societal preferences and benefits are given by default. Be anything else and the sense of identity quickly rises because of the biases and barriers that exist compared to the "norm" of a straight white guy.

  5. Wouldn't be the first time. We've survived the organized violence of the Civil War, the anarcho-communist insurrection, and the Civil Rights Movement. And each time the more humanist side made gains over the self-interested idealists.

  6. Right, since like the Great Depression "leftist violence" in America has been pretty much always the result of escalation by police or other right-wing instigators.
