  1. Right, there's a glaring lack of the "and others" aspect in all that prepping. They're the type to keep secret from their neighbors the existence of a fallout shelter. Meanwhile unequipped city dwellers they disdain readily assist each other when an earthquake or hurricane flattens their neighborhood.

  2. Allowing unrestricted access to firearms is problematic, it is also must involve strict controls and a sober culture to give guns the respect they deserve. Even the most disciplined gunslinging nation of Switzerland had to recall issued ammo from its men because it kept getting used in murders and suicides. There are other ways to fight before finding an armory and after running out of ammo, things like shovels and winches and remote controls that don't immediately raise suspicion but can improvise weapons in the field. I say this as an American veteran owning multiple guns, yet who doesn't feel the need to carry anything heavier than a multitool even through some rough parts of the world overseas.
